This album was composed on an old family piano I had the fortune of caring for for a couple of years. I swear the songs that became this album were locked in this piano for me discover note by note and ‘release.’
I didn’t know how to play piano before this piano taught me how to play what was inside it. Within a period of a few months, I wrote the albums 8 songs and interludes, often finding inspiration in poetry and black and white photographs made while working with Syrian, Afghani and Iraqi refugees in Europe.
The War for the Valley is a sonic Document of this moment of crises. It is a response and a witness to one of the great events of our lifetimes.
